SEVERAL hundred people blocked one of Melbourne's major thoroughfares for an hour in support of the worldwide solidarity movement for the people of Ferguson and black deaths at the hands of police in the United States.
The peaceful protest begun outside the US Consulate in Melbourne, which was heavily guarded by Victorian Police.
Thousands of commuters on Melbourne trams, buses and cars were delayed by the protest. The protest ended peacefully. There were no arrests.
